excerpt from book

You Are Royalty

When we become Christians and accept the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, we now become a part of a royal priesthood and are expected to begin our reign in God’s kingdom and the world. With this in mind, we must understand that there are certain things expected of royalty. Certain conduct is now required in this position of occupancy. We are now expected to walk and act like the kings and queens He created us to be. Royalty is set apart from others. According to the word of God, we are God’s consecrated people and therefore we are set apart for His purpose. So, no matter what lifestyle or behavior we are escaping, we are now to conduct ourselves according to His standards and not our own. Now as people of God, it’s time to begin the work of adjusting our thinking and actions to walking in the truth of God’s word.

When you surrender to the Lord, He gives you an inheritance in His kingdom as mentioned in the following scripture. However, I believe He gives us the inheritance but until we know who we are in Him, we don’t tap into obtaining it.

Eph. 5:5aFor this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Since we decided to leave that old life behind, we have to discover who God created us to truly be and what He has put on the inside of us. This means, not only having a clear understanding of who He is but also who we are. The way you feel about yourself is so important. It determines not only how you treat yourself but how you will allow others to treat you.

Self-esteem is confidence in one’s own worth or abilities; and self-respect. It reflects a person’s overall subjective emotional evaluation of his or her own worth. It is a judgement of oneself as well as an attitude toward the self. You must realize if and why your self-esteem is low or why you have a lack of confidence. You must figure out why you don’t believe you are worthy of God’s goodness in every area of your life and are settling for any mistreatment.

When you continue longing for and returning to a negative relationship and find it hard to stay away from them, that is bondage to another person. You must break the soul tie that you formed with them. Unhealthy soul ties affect your self-esteem and are tied to mental instability.

Make a decision to become more balanced and ask God to help you keep your life in His perfect will. When your self-esteem is in check, you become more careful and protective about who you share your body and time with. Remember, you are Royalty!

Confession for a healthy self-esteem:

I am who God says I am. I am a new creature in Christ Jesus. I’m anointed for greatness. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I’m the head and not the tail, I’m above only and not beneath. I am beautiful, (or handsome, for you fellas). I am loved and covered by God. I can do anything God strengthens me to do. God is in love me and has chosen me for His own. I am precious to Him and the apple of His eye. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
